A holistic counsellor, or holistic therapist, treats a person as a unified whole (mind, body and spirit), rather than only addressing one aspect such as a presenting mental illness. The holistic approach addresses the psychological (mind), physiological (body), emotional, energetic and spiritual aspects of life. It can also include nervous system regulation (managing stress), motivation, goal settings and spiritual guidance.
The main reason people come to see me is because they feel misunderstood by mainstream psychology. Spiritual phenomenon can sound like mental illness - hearing voices, seeing energy and spirits, dreams that feel real and body sensations that have no physical cause. These are all normal from the spiritual perspective, and are there to be explored. Even disassociation can be used to start exploring the spirit world and the unconscious.
Psychotherapy brings awareness to our unconscious/body and dream-like experiences via sensory-grounded experience. Following this process as it unfolds brings understanding to unconscious processes and beliefs, and gives embodied access to energies & internal resources to balance, ground and empower.
Psychotherapy uses body sensations, parts work (inner child work), imagination, movement, role play and art therapy to get underneath the cognitive mind and to the energy of what needs to be brought up from the body and the unconscious. If you've tried talk therapy with a psychologist or counsellor, but feel like you've gotten stuck at the surface, psychotherapy can help get beyond the mind.
Sessions can be via zoom or in person at 55 Glen Rd, Ourimbah on the Central Coast.
A one and a half hour session is $200. You can also pair an hour session with a half hour of reiki/energy work that helps to shift all the difficult emotions and blocks that came up during the session, so you can leave with that floating relaxed feeling.
I also offer a transformational coaching package that is holistic counselling & psychotherapy work with energy work (learning Reiki and Ashati).
