We are a spark of consciousness housed in a vessel created by the earth - an energetic bridge between Source and Gaia. And while our soul may transcend death, in this incarnation we are bound to a physical body.
De-prioritising that body results in poor health and low energy, meaning you can't maintain the frequency needed to carry out your mission. The physical practices of yoga and martial arts have lived side by side spiritual teachings for this very reason, and science has now come to understand how important exercise is for the body, and mind.
Similarly, we are what we eat. What we put inside our bodies becomes a part of us, even if temporarily. Diet affects us deeply - physically and mentally, but we're not taught to listen to our bodies, and are instead 'informed' by an industry driven by profit. Listen to your body - it will tell you exactly what makes it feel good and what doesn't.
Diet and exercise are integral to you mission here on earth, whatever you are driven to do – you can't give 100% when you're not feeling it. What happens if you don't prioritise your health? In my case, body fat increased and I often felt lethargic and struggled with motivation. My strength and body awareness decreased and I didn't feel as connected to my inner power – my being-ness. Poor diet caused digestion and autoimmune issues - I felt bloated, and needed to eat frequently otherwise I'd feel grumpy and tired. I would get brain-fog and couldn't think as clearly as I needed – thoughts just would not flow. At my worst point I was falling down sick with a cold every few weeks! Progress along my own path suffered greatly, and I struggled to maintain the energy and frequency to help myself, let alone others. It wasn't until I prioritised my own health that these issues disappeared. Now at 37, I'm in the best shape of my life! I rarely get sick – I haven't had a cold in well over a year - and I have so much more energy and drive to fulfil my mission.
